Case Study; Forklift Mounted Sweeper with Hydraulic Drive

One solution for mounting a sweeper to your Forklift, making it easy for transport yards to clean up...

 · 2 min read

The Forklift is a sturdy workhorse.  Many have plenty of power and hydraulic flow for running attachments, and they come with a ready mounting system for lift and lower of a sweeper.  We often get asked to fit a sweeper to a forklift and there's one clear and easy solution in most cases. If you are looking for a sweeper to clear debris and moss, look after a transport yard or sweep your access roads, then a forklift mounted sweeper is just what you need.

In this case the customer was a glass recycling operation, looking to sweep the broken glass from their concrete yard,

Kersten develop some of the most compact and easy to use sweepers on the market, and the KM52 range is ideal for this application.

This hydraulically driven sweeper is available in several widths; from 1.5m to 2.25m with an impressive, but not power hungry 52cm diameter brush. The 5-row spiral brush easily copes with heavy and voluminous debris and is perfect for clearing up tasks on hard surfaces.

The KM52 can be fitted with a dust suppression kit. This works by wetting the dust, making the particles heavier, so they can be easily collected in the large collection box. With a Forklift it is easy to empty the debris into a skip or large bin.

The items used in this project were as follows:

  1. KM 15052 Hydraulic drive sweeper
  2. ABR 52 GS Forklift mounting bracket
  3. SSB 15052 collecting box

The KM 52 range can be easily adjusted for height and the angle can be adjusted using a manual setting bar, or an optional hydraulic cylinder.

The collector box can be operated hydraulically using the same double acting set of spools as the main brush.

Kersten sweepers are great at maintaining hard surfaces by removing detritus and debris which reduces weed growth and is fundamental to Integrated weed management.

Other attachments suitable for forklifts may be found on the Forklift Attachments Page.
